The Deb Kylie

In my opinion, this seasons take on the 80’s side pony is a lil’ bit Kylie, a little bit Deb (“what’s a Liger?”), and I love it!

A low sleek side pony with a baseball hat.

If you ask me, you can rock the low side pony virtually anywhere. Dress it up or dress it down.

Chanel made this look totally happen on the Spring/Summer 2017 runway, and you should too. This trends got me singing “now watch me deb, now watch me Kylie” (to the tune of the ‘Whip Nae Nae’).
I just wanna throw on some pink lipstick, an adidas hat and GO! Can you say effortless? Everyone loves a girl who looks cute and effortless.

Otherwise, you can always do it up Blake Lively style. She is the queen of the chic dress and side pony look, after all!

Bottom line, I love a side pony just as much as I love a high pony.

I say definitely do away with top knot for a while, which could leave your hair broken and your friends rolling their eyes and cracking Kardashian jokes… and rock a pony!

Enlightened by Josie Marans Enlightenment Illuminator!

IMG_1663There’s a new product Im obsessed with! It’s the Josie Maran Argan Enlightment Illuminator and it will definitely become a staple in my beauty routine, at least for now while the dewy look is all the rage. The funny thing about it is that it’s not a product I would normally ever pick out at Sephora, but after seeing a picture of a friend who had used it and looked like they had set the clock back many years, I had to try. Literally, I saw a picture online and texted my friend immediately to see if they had gotten some new facialist or something! It turned out they had just started using this product and had it on in the photo. They were shocked I even noticed. The glow was so magical that I immediately ordered it. The only way I can accurately describe this product is to say that my face now looks like J Lo and Cupid made a baby on it. It gives you this youthful and very natural glow and shine. Not a baked and bronzed look at all like you may expect, it creates a dewy just kissed by Cupid sheen to your complexion. To get the perfect glowing look, I use a couple pumps mixed into my foundation all over the face and then go over that blotting and lightly blending more of the illuminator all over that (focusing more heavily on the middle forehead cheekbones and nose like you would with any illuminator). It also makes a nice primer or gives a subtle and gorgeous glow all on its own! I like to finish the look with a few swipes of NARS Copacabana illuminator to brighten things up (Cupid’s bow, cheekbones, brows, nose) and powder and a brightening concealer only under my eyes or in “problem areas”. Another thing I loved about this product is how my blush and contour just creamed right into it allowing for a totally natural look that actually went great from day to night. Plus, it’s argan oil base makes you feel like you must be doing something right for your skin! I’ve also been using a few drops of Josie Marans light Argan oil every night before bed which I will review soon! Dare I say, I think I may have finally found something to minimize my pores! Oh, and IT also makes a great primer if you use it in the morning before doing your makeup. Bottom line, this is a stellar product and I’m sold on Josie Marans products and this is coming from someone who had this product reccommended to them many times but had to see it to actually believe it. Once I saw it, I was checking out on Sephora’s app and choosing 2 day shipping! So, I say definitely go for the glow this Spring/Summer!

Avant-Garde or Avant-Garb?

Avant-Garde or Avant-Garb?

The seasons heat up with glitter roots & mermaid highlighter.

unless you live under a rock, chances are you know that we are coming into music festival season. Lollapalooza, Coachella, Bonnaroo…. We start seeing body paint, bright colors, glitter roots, mermaid and holographic hued highlighters on all of the makeup sites and fashion blogs. Basically what used to only be seen in rave culture, or the mythical Neverland, graces us all for the season, but when and where are these looks really okay?

How much is too much?

What is Avant-Garde & What is Avant-GARB?

I’m going to try some of these ultra hyped looks out. Let’s dive in!

Look one- avant-garde (Festival look)

Look 2-integrating mermaid culture with dry land aka the everyday look

So, What’s avant garb you ask?

In my opinion…

•glitter roots anywhere outside of a rave or a strip club in Hollywood Florida

•teal glitter lipstick

•yellow eyeliner

•caking every disco mermaid sculpting product on your face at once and seeing what sticks

I think at the end of the day the holographic trend, mermaid trend, unicorn trend, Coachella vibe is cool. This is a trend where, like most, what really matters is where and how you do it!! You can even work a 9 to 5 job and make it work, if you do a subtle eye with a halo crease and a pop of color in the corner, or a fun lip, or even a little pop of illuminator. Or you can go crazy, if that’s your thing & you’re out clubbing or raving, or performing, or letting loose… but bottom line, I don’t think blue glitter lips and crazy little mermaid eyes will get you too far if you wear them out on dry land.

Remember, glitter roots didn’t even work on Dakota fanning.. and she’s as cute as rainbow bright.. so if it doesn’t look cute on Dakota…

it’s probably not going to look cute on you.

Blush Bomb

Blush Bomb, is it really the bomb?

A new trend I’ve been seeing a lot about is “The Blush Bomb” aka blush draping. Harpers Bizarre is calling it a must look for Spring and celebrities are diving head first into the blush brush after seeing this on Spring runways and all I can think is… why? To me the only time this look works is on some distant Dolce & Gabbana runway (think Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell circa ’96) or in a harajuku lovers ad.

The most I’ve been able to get behind this trend this season is the way Fenty threw it down. More like an atomic bomb. The Illuminated blush bomb. Talk about tying two major cheek trends together, but unfortunately for this look, at the end of the day, all I can see is harijuku girl taking an 80s glamour shot. This should be left in Japanese culture, otherwise proceed with major caution like Chanel.

Bottom line, it didn’t work on Kristen Stewart and it probably won’t work on you.

Can you say Jem & the holograms?

Now someone please save us from this 80s themed zombie apocalypse!
